How Color Works in Terrazzo

Terrazzo color comes from two sources: the aggregate (chips of marble, glass, quartz, or other materials) and the matrix (the epoxy or cement binder, which can be pigmented). By varying the type, size, ratio, and mix of aggregates and selecting the matrix color, designers can achieve an almost infinite range of appearances.

Aggregate Types and Colors

The classic aggregate. Available in white, black, gray, cream, red, green, and pink. Chip sizes from #0 to #8. Common palettes: Classic White, Venetian Bold, Soft Gray, Italian Rose.

Vibrant and translucent. Post-consumer or specialty glass in virtually every color. Creates jewel-like effects in lighter matrices. Key suppliers: Bedrock Industries, Vitro Minerals, EnviroGLAS.

Iridescent and luxurious. Shell aggregate creates luminous shifting color effects. Used in luxury residential and hospitality applications.

Brass, bronze, and aluminum. Metallic chips create gold, silver, and bronze accents throughout the floor surface.

Sustainable and colorful. Post-consumer glass from bottles and windows. Contributes LEED MR credits. Available in all colors.
